Special Procedures Technologist in Rochester, NY

URMC Strong Memorial Hospital is seeking a Special Procedures Technologist for its Interventional Radiology department in Rochester, NY. You will work day shifts as part of a dedicated clinical team providing diagnostic and interventional radiology support.

Position Details

• Schedule: 5 shifts of 8 hours per day (days)
• On-call, callback, and holiday shifts as needed by the unit
• On-call rotation includes 5–7 call shifts per 7-week block, with 2–4 weekend call days
• Assignment duration: 89 weeks
• Start date: October 26, 2026
• Weekly pay: $1,997

Your Responsibilities

• Perform interventional radiology procedures and assist the radiologist during examinations
• Select exposure factors, position patients, and produce diagnostic-quality radiologic images
• Operate all radiology equipment with competence and proficiency; report malfunctions to management
• Instruct and prepare patients for examinations across all age groups
• Complete assigned procedures on schedule and assist with room turnover
• Maintain competency in Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS
• Manage medication security and restrict access to authorized personnel only
• Handle technical telephone inquiries from physicians and hospital staff

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in radiologic technology
• New York State Technician License (any tech license currently accepted in NY)
• ARRT certification
• BLS certification from American Heart Association only
• NYS License required or ability to obtain prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications

• VIR (Vascular and Interventional Radiology) certification
