RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 4x12 shift schedule
• Every other weekend requirement
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
• Charge nurse coverage may be required based on operational needs; training and resources will be provided
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS, ACLS
• Required skills: Med/Surg, Starting and maintaining IVs, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen administration, Oxygen tanks, Isolation Precautions/PPE
• Preferred skills: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, previous charge experience
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals is required
• Patient ratios: 5:1 days, 6:1 nights and weekends
• Patients served include adults and geriatrics
• Unit is Medical Surgical, directly adjacent to the Emergency Department
• Patients include observation cases held overnight for continued workup, similar to a clinical decision unit
• Common patient diagnoses include abdominal pain, respiratory distress, and symptom-based cases requiring further workup
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and more
• Holiday restrictions apply: Memorial Day weekend, Father's Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas cannot be requested off
