ED Registered Nurse Job in Baton Rouge, LA

Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. You'll work 3x12-hour night shifts over a 91-week assignment beginning September 28, 2026, earning $2,034 weekly.

The Emergency Department is a combined adult and pediatric facility handling up to 160 visits daily across 22 rooms and 31 beds. You'll care for patients across all age groups—neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics—with a 4:1 patient ratio on days, nights, and weekends. Weekend coverage and on-call duty every other weekend are required.

Your responsibilities include:

• Triage and initial patient assessment
• IV placement, maintenance, and blood product administration
• 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Phlebotomy and laboratory specimen handling
• BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care
• Central line and arterial line management
• Chest tube insertion and management
• Continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressor administration
• Splint application and intubation support
• Psychiatric hold and violent behavior management

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years Emergency Department experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications
• CPI certification required before start date if not current
• Compact or Louisiana license required at submission
• Epic charting system experience preferred

First-time travelers are welcome. You'll receive 24 hours of orientation. Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
