ED Registered Nurse Job in Lafayette, LA

Ochsner University Hospital and Clinics is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department in Lafayette, LA. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026.

Schedule & Compensation

• 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
• $2,034 weekly pay
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Overtime available, though not guaranteed

Role Responsibilities

You will care for patients across all age groups—infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics—managing a wide range of emergency conditions including trauma, cardiac events, neurological emergencies, respiratory distress, and behavioral health situations. Patient ratio is 1:3.

• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs and arterial blood gases
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and ventilated patients
• Administer procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, IV insulin protocols, and continuous IV sedation with paralytics
• Triage patients and manage violent or psychiatric hold situations
• Potential floating to other floors as needed

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Epic charting system experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, PALS, CPI, BLS, TNCC
• Royal blue scrubs required

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior charge nurse experience
• Community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I or II experience
