Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with more than 2 years of experience
• Required certifications: BLS; NIHSS preferred
• Charge pay available; previous charge experience preferred
• Patient ratio goal of 5:1 with charge out of staffing; may flex to 6:1
• Average of 8–12 admits to the unit over a 24-hour period
• Unit serves adults and geriatric patients
• 32-bed unit with a daily census of 25
• Patients include OR admits (total joint replacements, urology, general surgery), ED patients, and downgrades from ICU/PCU; dialysis patients managed by a dedicated dialysis nurse
• Float may occur to take med-surg patients in ICU/PCU or ED for holds; not likely but possible
• Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Charting system: Cerner experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• 24 orientation hours
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry/remote monitoring, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, and more
