RN - Med Surg Oncology Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts
• Shift times available: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling available
• Scrub color required: Navy Blue
• Care for adult patients in a mixed PCU, Oncology, and Med/Surg unit (27 beds)
• Patient ratios: 1:4 PCU and 1:5 Med/Surg during days; 1:5-6 during nights
• Common patient diagnoses include oncology and trauma
• Administer and manage drips including chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; titrate insulin and cardizem as needed
• Float to Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; oncology and PCU experience preferred
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), ONS/ONCC
• Competencies in ventilator use and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) and ICP preferred; on-the-job training available
• Charting system: EPIC (EPIC experience within 6 months preferred)
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Lyko lifts available in even rooms with additional lift equipment on unit
• Additional unit support includes nursing assistants, charge nurse, PT/OT, RN case manager, social work, educator, and dietician
• Must pass an open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• 2 days of orientation provided
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from facility
• Must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• BSN not required
• Trauma Level 1 facility
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments
