Med Surg RN Job in Gardner, MA

You will work as a Registered Nurse on the Med/Surg unit at Heywood Hospital in Gardner, Massachusetts. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a start date of September 9, 2026. You will work evenings on a 5x8 schedule and earn $2,340 per week.

Your responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions and patient care plans. You will provide care based on established standards, protocols, and facility policies. You will perform accurate documentation of patient data, therapeutic interventions, and responses to treatment.

Key clinical duties include:

• Safely administering medications and intravenous therapy according to physician orders and protocols
• Assessing and reassessing patient pain levels using numerical pain scales and monitoring pain control effectiveness
• Interpreting and documenting cardiac rate, rhythm, and configuration; initiating appropriate treatment plans
• Setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment such as traction and orthopedic devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and drains
• Providing patient and family education based on identified learning needs and readiness
• Collaborating on discharge planning with appropriate support systems and resources
• Delegating and supervising nursing interventions performed by others
• Identifying patient safety risks and opportunities to reduce medical errors

Requirements: You must hold a current Massachusetts RN license. ACLS certification is required upon hire, or you must obtain active BLS with AHA ACLS within 60 days of your start date. PALS certification is preferred. You must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred experience: Minimum 1 year in Med/Surg nursing, minimum 1 year in Telemetry, and minimum 1 year in Pediatrics.
