Sterile Processing Technician Job in Baltimore, MD

Join MedStar Union Memorial Hospital as a Sterile Processing Technician in our Surgical Services department. This is a travel assignment offering 91 days of work with a start date of November 10, 2026.

Schedule & Location

• Work 5 nights per week, 8-hour shifts from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Daily census of 40–50 surgical cases

Role Responsibilities

You will manage sterile processing operations for an acute care hospital OR environment, including manual and automated cleaning, high-level disinfection, sterilization wrapping, and instrument assembly. You will handle specialty equipment and instruments across multiple surgical disciplines: orthopedic/total joints, urology, vascular, robotics, laparoscopic, and trauma cases. Daily tasks include operating washers and sterilizers, using ultrasonic cleaners, preparing and organizing instrument trays, proper labeling, selecting appropriate wrapping materials, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout all procedures.

Requirements

• Allied Health Professional credential
• IAHCSMM/HSPA certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent sterile processing experience within the last 7 years
• At least 1 completed travel assignment
• Acute hospital OR experience required
• Trauma Level II facility experience required
• Proficiency in acute hospital OR protocols, aseptic technique, automated endoscope reprocessors (AER), chemical decontamination agents, equipment documentation, fiber optics, high-level disinfection (HLD), and sterilization procedures
• Experience with crash carts, IV pumps, and PCA pumps cleaning and maintenance
• Cerner charting system experience preferred

Compensation

Weekly pay of $1,258.
