Sterile Processing Technician Job in Olney, MD

MedStar Montgomery Medical Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for surgical services. You will work 5x8 evening shifts from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with on-call requirements including one additional Saturday or holiday per 6-week schedule. Weekend coverage requires one Saturday per 6-week schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with holiday coverage only when on call.

Position Requirements:

• 5 years of sterile processing experience
• Travel healthcare experience
• Acute hospital operating room experience
• IAHCSMM/HSPA certification
• Basic computer skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform instrument decontamination, sterilization, and assembly including manual cleaning, steam sterilization, high-level disinfection, and immediate-use steam sterilization
• Operate sterilization equipment including washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and automated endoscope reprocessors
• Reprocess scopes and probes including bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, cystoscopes, endoscopes, ERCP scopes, EGD scopes, and TEE probes
• Assemble and organize instrument sets and trays, including loaner and consignment trays
• Work with robotic surgical systems including the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
• Monitor sterilization using biological indicators, chemical indicators, and equipment testing
• Support multiple surgical specialties including orthopedics, cardiac, urology, OB/GYN, plastics, podiatry, vascular, laparoscopic, and bariatrics

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of wrapping materials selection and labeling procedures
• Charting system experience

This 91-day travel assignment starts November 2, 2026. Weekly pay is $1,260.
