ADEX Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for a 13-week assignment at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln, Maine. This is a nights position offering competitive pay and hands-on laboratory work in a dynamic healthcare setting.
Position Details
- Shift: 11.5-hour nights, three shifts per week after initial training week
- Schedule: Rotating weekends (typically every 5th weekend); Thursday night shifts with opportunity to pick up additional vacancies
- Duration: 13 weeks, starting September 11, 2026
- No on-call responsibilities
- Holiday rotation in place
- Facility reserves right to cancel up to 3 shifts within the 12-week period
Compensation
- Weekly pay: $1,708.20
Key Responsibilities
- Perform medical laboratory testing and specimen analysis
- Conduct phlebotomy procedures
- Execute Blood Bank testing protocols
- Handle microbiology work including gram stains, culture planting, and blood cultures
- Work independently while multitasking and prioritizing effectively
- Communicate clearly with clinical and laboratory team members
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Allied Health Professional (Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician program from an approved institution)
- Current MT or MLT credentials
- Proficiency in phlebotomy
- Ability to perform Blood Bank testing
- Microbiology experience preferred; if none, must demonstrate competency in gram stains, planting cultures, and blood cultures
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently
- Effective communication skills
