ED - Emergency Room

RN - ER

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays in with core staff
• First to float, including potential mid-shift float to other Sacramento facilities
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 18-bed Emergency Department with 4 fast track beds included
• No triage responsibilities for agency RNs
• Behavioral Health Unit mental health nurses handle mental health patients
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG/telemetry strips
• Ventilator use is not common
• Charge nurse available and generally does not take patients but will provide break relief
• Nurse aides available based on census and staffing
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• No IV team on site
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
• Charting system: Cerner
• Self-scheduling available with manager balancing; schedules released 4 weeks in advance with remote access
• Overtime and extra shifts available; trades with other staff permitted
• Block scheduling generally not available
• 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with preceptor
• Common diagnoses include chest pain/rule out MI, exacerbation of chronic diseases, and psych holds; major cases transported to higher-level facilities
• Scrub color: Navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional and must be navy
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid California RN license required
