About this role

WVU Thomas Health - Thomas Memorial Hospital is seeking an RN (Registered Nurse) for a Cardiac Cath Lab position in South Charleston, WV. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 31, 2026.

Role Overview

You will work as a scrub RN in a high-volume cardiac catheterization setting. Your responsibilities include scrubbing cases, circulating, administering sedation, and completing all documentation requirements. You must demonstrate proficiency in sterile technique and be comfortable managing a fast-paced environment with 10+ cases per day across two cath lab suites.

Schedule & Call Requirements

  • Four 10-hour shifts per week, rotating schedule
  • Start and stop times subject to case volume
  • One week of on-call per four-week schedule (Monday 7:00 AM through the following Monday at 7:00 AM); call days may be broken up to equal one full week
  • Weekend call requirement: Friday after hours through Monday morning at 7:00 AM (if not completing the full Monday-to-Monday rotation)
  • Up to 7 days of call per schedule with 1–2 late shifts included
  • Weekends and holidays on a rotational basis
  • 30-minute call response time required

Clinical Experience & Procedures

You will assist with diagnostic left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, IABP, Impella, temporary pacemakers, TCAR, EVAR, EKOS, AIF, IVC filters, Infusaports, Permacaths, and vascular surgery procedures including filters and venograms. Minimum one year of prior Cath Lab experience is required. EKOS experience is preferred; training is available for those without it.

Facility Details

The facility uses Siemens software and equipment with EPIC charting. No floating requirements apply; however, additional hours are available in other units if you have applicable experience. You will receive orientation in general hospital procedures, nursing protocols, computer systems, and up to one week (36 hours) of department-specific training. Surgical attire is provided; lead aprons are not.

Compensation & Requirements

Weekly pay is $3,168. Required certifications are ACLS and BLS. A BSN is not required. This is an acute care setting position.
