ICU RN Job in Chapel Hill, NC

You will work as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at University of North Carolina Health Care System. This is a 12-hour shift position in an inpatient float pool ICU setting with block weekend scheduling available. The assignment runs for 89 days, beginning September 28, 2026, and offers weekly pay of $2,095.92.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Deliver competent clinical nursing care aligned with professional standards for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments covering physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs
• Coordinate care using the nursing process, organizing and prioritizing based on patient and family needs
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required by individual patient care plans
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address complex care issues, discharge planning, and cultural considerations
• Prepare and update care plans in partnership with patients and families
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn and provide appropriate patient education
• Evaluate continuity of care and communicate relevant clinical information across shifts and disciplines
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities and cost-effective care initiatives

You will work within a teaching health system that serves a diverse patient population. The float pool model means you may rotate across ICU settings within the system based on patient volume and acuity. This role requires strong critical thinking, communication, and the ability to manage multiple complex patients in a dynamic environment.
