CVOR Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Operating Room (CVOR) at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a Level II Trauma teaching hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment offering 5x8 day shifts scheduled from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM, with weekend and evening call rotations. You will earn $3,116 weekly.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide perioperative nursing care in three dedicated open heart operating rooms with a daily census of 3
• Work as part of a surgical team in a 3:1 patient ratio environment
• Support six cardiothoracic surgeons and a interdisciplinary team including CSTs, Perfusionists, and ACPs
• Assist with complex procedures including CABG, AAA repair, valve replacements, LVAD/RVAD placement, thoracotomies, VATS, Da Vinci robotic cases, ECMO cannulation, and Angiovac procedures
• Operate specialized equipment including Impella, Da Vinci Robot, Stryker and Storz camera systems, and Sternal Lock technology
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including CAD, valvular disease, aortic dissection, lung cancer, and pulmonary embolus

Requirements:

• Current active Virginia State or Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Scrub experience required; community hospital experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• CNOR certification preferred

Schedule Details:

• Weekend call coverage runs Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM, with 1–2 call weekends per contract
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period

Interdisciplinary support is available including Interpretation Services, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretary. Start date is September 14, 2026.
