RN - Tele Neuro

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available as day shift (6:30 AM to 7:00 PM) or night shift (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM)
• At least every other weekend required, with additional weekend shifts possible based on unit needs and census
• 2-3 holidays required from Thanksgiving to New Year's
• Travelers will be scheduled with a limited amount of block scheduling approved
• 2 days of unit/department specific orientation provided
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation requiring a minimum score of 90% to pass
• 25-bed Medical Surgical Neurology unit on the 4th Floor North
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 with nurse aides/patient care techs available at 1:10-20 ratio
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Telemetry techs will interpret strips; RNs should maintain tele awareness
• Common diagnoses include strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery procedures, joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
• Required to titrate Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; PCA pumps also utilized
• Floating may be required to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue for RNs
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• No license or background hits accepted
• Travel experience preferred but strong candidates without travel experience will be considered
