PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work three 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Rotating weekend schedule required
• Float required as needed across all health system facilities
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first time travelers welcome
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Neuro PCU experience required
• Experience with CVA, External CPAP/BiPAP, TR Band, and Yale Swallowing Screen required
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Patient ratio of 5:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Care for adult patients in a 30-bed Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care department
• Primary patient population includes stroke patients (including uncomplicated tPA patients), tumors with aneurysms not requiring surgical intervention, seizure disorders, transient ischemic attacks, traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, neuromuscular disease, headache, epilepsy monitoring, and TR-Band
• Secondary patient population includes DKA and Endo Tool, stable multiple trauma inclusive of non-isolated head trauma, spinal surgeries, and stable non-comatose subarachnoid hemorrhage patients
• Required skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care and management, CVA management, dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions and PPE, cardiac drip management without titration, neuro stepdown care, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, telemetry unit monitoring, tracheostomy care and management, TR Band and Yale Swallowing Screen
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
