Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts; days 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, nights 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, or day/night rotation available
• Every other weekend or every 3rd weekend requirement
• 2 holiday shifts required per year
• Self-scheduling based on seniority; block scheduling considered if it meets unit needs
• First to float; may float primarily to NICU and newborn nursery or be utilized for 1:1 sitting as census fluctuates
• 7-bed Pediatric unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3
• Care for patients ages 0-18 years including routine stable med-surg, intermediate peds, ICU feeder grower overflow, surgical patients (ortho, appendectomies, GI, MVAs), respiratory, diabetics, seizure, failure to thrive, and jaundice/bili babies
• Required to titrate drips including Tylenol, Keppra, and Insulin (Insulin experience preferred but not required)
• Perform pre-op and second phase care for some pediatric patients
• Work with RT equipment including CPAP, high flow, and nasal cannula with minimal troubleshooting required
• Remote telemetry monitored by staff on another floor; RNs not required to read and interpret strips
• No charge nurse on unit; 2 nurses work collaboratively per shift
• Nurse aids/patient care techs available when census exceeds 5 patients
• Pediatrician in house 7 days a week until 5:00 PM; on call at night
• Respiratory therapy in house 24/7
• Charting system: EPIC
• 2 orientation shifts of 12 hours each
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric/Med-Surg nursing experience required; PICU experience preferred
• NICU experience preferred
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• BSN not required
• Active ND nursing license required
