Telemetry RN Job in Houma, LA

Ochsner Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for Telemetry to join our Med Surg unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting November 9, 2026.

Assignment Details

• 3x12-hour night shifts
• Weekly pay: $2,046
• Patient ratio: 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend required
• Compact or Louisiana license required upon submission

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in telemetry required
• ACLS, BLS, and CPI certifications required
• PALS certification preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Must be located more than 65 miles from facility
• Open to first-time travelers

Key Responsibilities

You will care for patients across all age groups, including neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, flu, abdominal and orthopedic surgeries, gynecological surgeries, sickle cell crisis, NSTEMI, metabolic encephalopathy, and cellulitis.

Required clinical skills include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, heparin and IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, wound care and wound vac management, PICC line management, PCA management, and phlebotomy.

Support & Expectations

Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, radiology, social services, and unit secretaries. You must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Upon assignment acceptance, you may be assigned to an Emergency Team with expectation to remain at the facility or serve as part of a relief team during emergency events.
