About this role

IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join its Surgical Services team. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 27, 2026.

Role Overview

You will work in a 23-operating-room surgical services department that averages 35 cases daily. Your primary responsibility is scrubbing complex surgical cases, with a focus on transplant procedures. You may float to the general operating room and occasionally to Riley Children's Hospital for pediatric cases as needed. This position serves an adult and geriatric patient population in an academic health center and teaching hospital environment.

Schedule & Requirements

  • 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM)
  • Call requirement of 40–60 hours per 6-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage required (must work 2 out of 3 major holidays)
  • 40-hour orientation period

Experience & Credentials

  • Current BLS and NBSTSA certification required
  • Minimum 3 years surgical tech experience
  • Minimum 2 years transplant experience with demonstrated procedure experience within the last 2 years
  • Liver transplant experience with ability to independently scrub liver recipient transplants (required)
  • Competency in large open belly cases, general, urology, thoracic, gynecology, plastics, Whipple, liver resection, and free flap procedures
  • Pediatric experience preferred for floating to Riley
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Cerner charting system experience preferred

Equipment & Skills

You will work with the da Vinci XI Surgical System and demonstrate proficiency with bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, EUS, and flex sigmoidoscopes. Your skillset must include strong aseptic technique and the ability to manage complex, high-acuity cases including those with cancer-related care.

Weekly pay: $1,918.08
