PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 13-week contract assignment
• Located on the 4th floor of the Main Hospital in the Medical Intermediate Care Unit (Cost Center 634)
• Patient ratio of 3:1
• Every other weekend requirement, alternating 4 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per month
• Delayed start utilized rather than on-call shifts when census is low
• Physical assessments, intake, and output must be completed every 4 hours
• Hourly safety rounds required
• Every two-hour positioning and ADLs as indicated
• Bedside handoff is mandatory
• Work with equipment including bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, heated humidity high flow O2, BiPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy, Kangaroo feeding pumps, gastric tubes, and surgical drains
• Use EPIC EMR system
• Minimum 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience required
• Preferred experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPAP/long-term vent support
• Preferred experience with titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, Cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
• Preferred experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment
• Perform emergent cardioversion and other unit procedures
• May float to cardiac surgery IMC, med-tele, med-surg, and ortho-neuro units
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH-SS
• Must hold a permanent Alaska RN license at time of submission (temporary licensing not accepted)
