PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 13-week assignment
• High acuity step-down/progressive care unit with 19 beds
• Patient ratio of 3:1
• Every other weekend required (alternating 4 weekend shifts Saturday/Sunday per month)
• Delayed start utilized rather than on-call shifts if census is low
• Float to cardiac surgery IMC, med-tele, med-surg, and ortho-neuro units as needed
• Work with equipment including bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, heated humidity high flow O2, BiPap, chest tubes, tracheostomy, kangaroo feeding pumps, gastric tubes, and surgical drains
• Use EPIC electronic medical records system
• Perform physical assessments, intake, and output every 4 hours
• Complete hourly safety rounds and every two-hour positioning and ADLs as indicated
• Bedside handoff is mandatory
• Minimum 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience required
• Preferred experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPap/long-term vent support
• Preferred experience with titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
• Preferred experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH-SS
• Alaska RN license required at time of submission (permanent license only, no temporary licensing accepted)
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
