About this role
You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing's Center for Advanced Medicine. This is a 12-week assignment offering stable day shifts with no weekends, nights, or holidays.
Schedule & Pay
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM (some shifts 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM)
- 4 days per week, 10 hours per shift
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week
- 24 hours of on-call per 6-week scheduling period
- $2,318.69 weekly
Your Role
You will provide preoperative, Phase I, and Phase II post-operative care in a fast-paced environment. Approximately 85% of patients are same-day surgery cases, requiring rapid assessment and quick turnover. Patient ratios are 1:2 and 1:3 in both pre-op and PACU settings.
You will perform EKG rhythm analysis, blood draws, IV starts, and blood transfusions. You must manage drains, vasoactive drips, and mechanical ventilation. Experience with recovery from general anesthesia is required.
Surgical Services
You will support multiple surgical specialties including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, colorectal, GYN, orthopedics, trauma, transplant, cardiothoracic, hepatobiliary, vascular, endoscopy, interventional radiology, and urology. You may float within the service line as needed.
Requirements
- RN license
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Minimum 1 year critical care/ICU experience or Level I Trauma Center PACU experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Must pass Relias EKG exam
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Blood product administration, phlebotomy, and IV vasopressor management
Preferred
- TNCC certification
Navy scrubs are required. Adult-only patient population.
