About this role
IU Health Bloomington Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This is a mixed acuity unit where you will care for patients across ICU and progressive care levels, working with patient ratios of 1:2 in the ICU and 1:3-4 for acute care (rare).
Schedule & Duration
- 3 x 12-hour night shifts with 36 guaranteed hours per workweek
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No on-call required
- 91-day assignment starting October 6, 2026
Role & Responsibilities
You will care for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, and oncology patients. Primary populations include CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS cases. You must be comfortable floating within scope to meet facility needs across Med/Surg, Progressive, and ICU cardiovascular and oncology patients.
Required Skills & Certifications
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Post-cardiac surgery care and arterial line management
- Blood product and central line administration
- PICC line management
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
- Ventilator care and management
- ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 18 months clinical experience
- Cerner charting experience preferred
Preferred Skills
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) experience
- Pre/post cardiac catheterization and intervention
- Sheath removal
- Ventricular assist device management (LVAD/RVAD/Impella)
- Charge nurse experience
Facility Details
All patient rooms are private with overhead lifts and telemetry available. Dress code: black bottoms and red top.
Requirements
- Active Indiana state nursing license required before submission; pending licenses not accepted
- Non-local Indiana residents only
Compensation
Weekly pay: $2,127
