Phlebotomist Job in Santa Rosa, CA

Sutter Health Santa Rosa Regional Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the laboratory team on a 91-day travel assignment. You will work 5x8-hour night shifts with variable start times of 3:00 AM, 4:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:00 PM, or 1:30 PM, and every other weekend is required.

Your responsibilities include:

• Collect blood specimens for laboratory tests using age-appropriate venipuncture techniques (vacutainer and syringe methods)
• Perform finger sticks and heel sticks for neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Handle blood cultures and manage specimen processing, aliquoting, and proper labeling
• Transport laboratory specimens and provide post-phlebotomy care
• Prioritize patient collections based on order type (STAT, timed, routine)
• Operate centrifuge equipment and maintain proper specimen storage conditions
• Apply knowledge of tube types, additives, and collection protocols
• Adhere to standard and transmission-based precautions
• Identify and respond appropriately to emergency situations

Required qualifications:

• Allied Health Professional credential (Certified Phlebotomy Technician)
• California CPT 1 license
• Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Community hospital experience
• Trauma Level I or Level II facility experience
• Charge experience
