Phlebotomist - Phlebotomist / Laboratory

Job Details:

• Work 5x8 shifts from 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Collect and prepare blood samples from patients of all ages including adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Perform correct identification of patients and specimens
• Transport and handle specimens and perform all related clerical functions
• Process specimens according to laboratory policy including centrifuge, aliquot, and storage procedures
• Perform venipuncture using vacutainer and syringe methods
• Conduct finger sticks and heel sticks including use of heel warmers
• Collect and process various tube types including light blue, gray, green, purple, and red top tubes
• Perform blood cultures, blood smears, and glucose screening tests
• Conduct oral glucose tolerance tests and peak and trough drug level collections
• Prioritize patient collections based on order request including stat, timed, and routine
• Instruct patients on proper collection and preservation of laboratory specimens
• Maintain quality assurance and controls and adhere to proper disposal procedures
• Apply aseptic technique and transmission-based precautions
• Use SunQuest LIS and Epic HIS systems (preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certification: California State CPTI - Certified Phlebotomy Technician I
