PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

RN - PACU

Job Details:

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards
• Review patient history and physical with patient/family and ensure completion within appropriate timeframe
• Review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Formulate and initiate individualized plans of care including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patients, families, and health team members
• Implement patient care through direct care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities
• Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers
• Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising plan of care as needed
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a legible and timely manner
• Participate in facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, and families
• Actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
• May provide relief charge for staff and workflow of the department depending on location
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must use standard precautions due to potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids
• Adequate hearing, visual acuity, color vision, and fine motor skills required
