Respiratory Therapist Job in Waterloo, IA

You'll work as a Respiratory Therapist at UnityPoint - Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA, providing care to adult ICU and NICU patient populations on a 3x12 night shift schedule. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026.

About the Role

• No on-call responsibilities
• Weekend shifts scheduled as needed
• Must be willing to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless your unit is closed
• Wear any color solid scrub tops and bottoms

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Minimum 15 months of respiratory experience in a hospital setting
• 36 months of current RRT/Respiratory Therapy experience per work history
• Recent, demonstrated experience with NICU patients
• Active BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and NBRC certifications
• Iowa Respiratory license highly preferred; licensing candidates accepted with 1–3 week turnaround

Equipment & Clinical Skills

• Required equipment experience: Hamilton ventilator, Drager, Airvo 2, Airvo 3, V60, NKV-330, Hamilton T-1, Drager V500, Drager V800, Vapotherm, Bubble CPAP, and ABL 90 for ABGs
• BiPAP/CPAP experience required
• Vasotherm experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Respiratory Therapy skills checklist required

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
