ICU - Intensive Care Unit

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
• Schedule includes every other weekend and holidays in rotation
• Patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions
• Travelers are the first to float and may be sent to the emergency department or PCU to care for PCU or ICU holds
• Bedside shift report required for every patient with each transfer of care
• Must be able to care for up to 1-3 ICU patients and be comfortable managing patients on a ventilator
• Must be proficient in reading telemetry strips
• Advanced skills required: CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy
• Nurses administer breathing treatments including inhalers and nebulizers outside of the ICU
• Procedures performed on unit include: post-op day 0 CABG (fresh heart from OR), impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics
• Neuro procedures include: aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun experience with induced hypothermia
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Equipment includes: i-mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels
• Required dress code: Navy uniform
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• BSN preferred, advanced certifications preferred, TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 36 months RN experience required with at least one year in an ICU
• One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferred, preferably in a facility that used Meditech
