Job Details:

• Provide direct patient care across neonate through geriatric patient populations in the surgical environment
• Address psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment
• Perform patient duties in pre-operative, intra-operative, PACU, and post-operative areas
• Prepare patients for surgery in cooperation with the anesthesia provider
• Communicate continuously with surgeon and anesthesia provider regarding patient condition
• Assess and reassess patient pain levels and utilize appropriate pain management techniques
• Ensure Pre-op Checklist is complete before patient is taken into surgical suite
• Position patients safely and pad and protect bony prominences
• Prep and drape patients correctly for all procedures
• Carry out medical and surgical asepsis before, during, and after all procedures
• Demonstrate competence in preparing and cleaning OR suites before, between, and after cases
• Accurately record, handle, and label specimens
• Manage surgical counts according to policy and communicate count status to surgeon
• Perform duties of both circulating RN and scrub RN (once trained to scrub)
• Assist with maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory
• Must be available to work routine scheduled call for emergency surgical services
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with Associates, Diploma, or BSN Degree required
• Active Idaho or compact state RN license required
• Multiple years of surgical experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS (upon hire), ACLS (within one year of hire)
• Basic computer skills required with ability to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs
