Medical Laboratory Scientist Job in Lapeer, MI

Join McLaren Lapeer Region as a Medical Laboratory Scientist on a 91-day travel assignment. You'll work 4x10 night shifts, with every other weekend required and no on-call responsibilities.

Your Role

• Collect and prepare blood samples using skin puncture and venipuncture techniques
• Enter specimen collections and patient information into the lab information system
• Verify patient details, label specimen vials, and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Assist medical technologists and pathologists in performing designated laboratory tests
• Process specimens according to established guidelines and quality control standards
• Organize blood-drawing trays, ensuring all instruments are sterile and all needles, syringes, and related items are first-time use
• Dispose of contaminated needles and biohazard materials in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste protocols
• Assist with maintaining laboratory equipment and records following accreditation guidelines

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of MLS experience
• Valid ASCP certification
• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• Travel experience preferred

Compensation and Timeline
