Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department
• On-call required every other weekend
• Patient ratio of 4:1 during days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 2 years of emergency room nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, CPI, and NIHSS
• AHA certifications required
• Must hold a compact or Louisiana nursing license upon submittal
• Care for patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Manage a wide range of emergency conditions including abdominal pain, acute psychosis, asthma, CVA, drug overdose, seizures, gunshot wounds, traumatic brain injury, and more
• Perform skills including arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, chest tube management, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressor administration, intubation, procedural sedation, triage, phlebotomy, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
• Manage and apply splints, perform psychiatric holds, and manage violent or suicidal patients
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Facility sees approximately 160 visits per day across 22 rooms and 31 beds
• 24-hour orientation provided
