ED - Emergency Room

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Treat an average of 25 patients per day in the emergency department
• Care for patients with common diagnoses including abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• Administer standard emergency room medications and drips
• Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry monitors as no monitor technicians are available
• Will be trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• Work in a mixed ER environment where ER holds are intermixed within the department
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment
• Supported by technicians who assist with unit secretary work, floor nursing support, and triage
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs
• Floating within regional/zone emergency rooms may be required
• 2-3 days of unit/department specific orientation required
• Schedule is determined by leadership based on unit needs
• Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
