PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• Rotating 12-hour shifts with day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week for 3x12 schedule or 48 guaranteed hours per week for 4x12 schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:2 for days, nights, and weekends
• 6 weekend shifts required per schedule period
• No on-call required
• Minimum 18-24 months of PICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Scrub color: Any color or facility-branded T-shirts and jackets
• Will float to NICU, CVICU, Stepdown, and PICU overflow floor which also includes low acuity med-surg patients
• May be called upon to float as an RN Assist to provide 1:1 observation for safety and behavioral health purposes
• Care for patients across all pediatric age groups including neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics
• Daily census ranges from 25-40 patients across a 40-bed unit split on 2 floors
• Patient diagnoses include post-op, respiratory failure, liver transplants, sepsis, and COVID patients; no burns (stabilize only) and no hearts
• Preferred experience with Level I Trauma and post bone marrow transplant (BMT) patients
• Bedside surgeries and procedures performed on unit
• Required skills include: assist/manage intubation, care of ventilated patients, central line blood draws, central line and implanted line care, CRRT, ECMO, ICP monitoring, chest tube management, gastric tube management, NG tube insertion and management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, suctioning (ETT and NT), telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management
• Special equipment includes BiPAP, HFNC, ventilators, and oscillators
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred for travel nurses
