PACU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, supporting patients through recovery from surgery and anesthesia.

Schedule and Duration

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (4x12-hour shifts available upon request)
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• On-call rotation assigned based on sign-up sheet
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• 91-day assignment starting November 9, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,084

Clinical Expectations

• Patient ratio 1:2, serving adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• IV therapy including blood products, central and PICC line care, and IV starts
• Respiratory care: ventilated patients, chest tubes, airway management, tracheostomy, extubation, End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
• Neuro assessment: craniotomy, EVD, spine surgery, stroke scale evaluation
• Cardiac monitoring: antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, vasopressors, opioids, reversal agents, arterial line management, dysrhythmia management, and CPR
• Pre- and post-op responsibilities including EKG, consent verification, and catheterization procedures
• Monitoring lab values, isolation protocols, malignant hyperthermia awareness, pain management, PCA, and RASS assessment
• Floating within skillset may be required

Requirements

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications
• EPIC charting experience
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Must be willing to relocate; local candidates not accepted
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
