About this role

You will work as a registered nurse in a 12-hour night shift role, three shifts per week, within an emergency department float pool covering Zone 4. Your assignment spans a 60-mile radius from Garden City, KS, including Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, St. Catherine in Dodge City, and St. Catherine in Garden City. You will need to secure housing that allows you to float throughout this full coverage zone, as there is no single home base facility.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 depending on acuity
  • Treat an average of 6–49 patients per day, which varies by location
  • Administer standard emergency room medications and common drips
  • Perform and interpret telemetry monitoring independently (no monitor technicians available)
  • Conduct Point of Care lab testing after training
  • Address common diagnoses including abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension

Support and Resources

  • Respiratory therapy available 24/7 on site
  • Technicians available to support unit secretary duties, assist nurses on the floor, and help in triage
  • Charge nurse handles patient assignments
  • 2–3 days of unit and department-specific orientation provided; you must be present in state during orientation week

Requirements and Schedule Details

  • Every other weekend requirement
  • Every other holiday requirement
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Cannot miss more than 3 shifts during the 13-week contract
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
  • BSN not required

The assignment runs for 91 days, starting September 14, 2026, at $2,384.64 per week.
