Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts on a 3x12 or 4x12 schedule
• 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours; indicate preference at time of submission
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4, may increase to 1:6 when caring for Medical-Surgical hold patients
• Stroke patients assigned 1:1 until admitted or through the tPA treatment window
• STEMI and cardiac arrest patients assigned 1:1
• No psychiatric patients assigned to travel RNs
• Care for patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
• Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, STEMI, stroke, altered mental status, syncope, COPD, CHF, asthma, and hyper/hypoglycemia
• Work within a split flow area for ESI level 3 patients and a vertical care area for ESI level 4/5 patients
• Special equipment includes Lucas device, Rapid Infuser (transitioning to Belmont), iStat, Clinitek, and Glucommander
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Previous travel experience required
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission required; no exceptions
• Must be proficient in Epic; no exceptions
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• EKG testing required; must achieve 80% or higher to pass; one attempt given with no remediation available
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), TNCC
