ED Registered Nurse Job in Charlottesville, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at University of Virginia Medical Center, a 71-bed/71-room facility handling approximately 165 patient visits daily. This is a 13-week night shift contract at 4x12 hours per week, paying $2,519 weekly.

Your Role:

• Provide direct patient care across all age groups—adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Manage patient ratios of 4–5 patients per shift
• Perform triage and treat high-acuity diagnoses including Level I Trauma, Comprehensive Stroke, and Chest Pain (STEMI)
• Float within your scope of practice as staffing needs require

Schedule & Time Off:

• Night shift, 4x12 scheduling; weekends required with days varying based on staffing
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Maximum 40 hours of pre-approved time off during the 13-week contract

Support & Systems:

• Interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Social Services
• Epic charting system

Qualifications Required:

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience
• At least 1 year of Level 1 trauma facility experience OR 2 years of Level 2 trauma facility experience
• Documented experience with pediatric patients (does not need to be in a dedicated pediatric ER)
• Triage experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (TNCC may be submitted pending; must be in hand before your start date)
• Valid Virginia nursing license; pending licenses accepted if received by Wednesday before start
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
