ED Registered Nurse Job in Chesapeake, VA

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026, offering competitive compensation and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Position Details

• Specialty: Emergency Department (ED)
• Location: Chesapeake, VA
• Shift: 3x12 hour nights (schedule preference noted at submission)
• Weekly Pay: $2,200
• Contract Length: 91 days
• Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts; 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours

Clinical Responsibilities

• Typical patient ratio of 1:4 (may increase to 1:6 with Medical-Surgical hold patients)
• Stroke patients assigned 1:1 until admitted or through tPA treatment window
• STEMI and cardiac arrest patients assigned 1:1
• No psychiatric patients assigned to travel RNs
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within contract are required

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department experience
• Previous travel healthcare experience required
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license at time of submission (no exceptions)
• Proficiency in Epic EHR system (no exceptions)
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA only), ACLS (AHA only), PALS (AHA only), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and TNCC
• EKG testing required; must score 80% or higher on first attempt (no remediation available)
• 3 hours of pre-start orientation modules
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• No candidates with license or background incidents will be considered
