PICU RN Job in Charleston, SC

MUSC Health – Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool in Charleston, SC. You'll work 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM) for 36 hours per week on a schedule that includes every other weekend and holiday rotation. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026.

Role and Responsibilities

As a float pool RN, you'll provide critical care across pediatric units to meet facility needs, including PICU placements. You'll manage patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3 and deliver care that includes ventilator management, acute airway care, central line and PICC line management, continuous sedation monitoring, ICP monitoring, anti-seizure medication administration, and interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias. You'll also manage chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP support, and IV vasopressor therapy. The facility offers a guaranteed hours policy with the possibility of one call-off per two weeks.

Requirements

• Current RN license (South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact State)
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience
• BLS and PALS certification (American Heart Association)
• Strong proficiency in pediatric dosage calculations, infection control, and isolation precautions

Preferred Qualifications

ECMO and CRRT experience are preferred.

The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation coordination, and unit secretarial support.

Compensation and Duration

This position offers $2,072 per week. The 91-day assignment provides you with focused experience in a leading pediatric critical care environment while maintaining schedule predictability and facility stability.
