PICU Registered Nurse Job in Charleston, SC

MUSC Health – Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for a pediatric critical care float pool position in Charleston, South Carolina. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 14, 2026.

Role and Schedule

You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, totaling 36 hours per week. Every other weekend is required, and you will rotate through holiday coverage. The facility may call off one shift per two weeks. As a float pool nurse, you will have no home unit and will float across all pediatric critical care areas to meet facility needs.

Clinical Details

You will care for pediatric critical care patients with ratios of 1:2 to 1:3. Your scope includes PICU care and related pediatric intensive care settings. Required certifications are BLS and PALS (American Heart Association). You must hold a South Carolina RN license or a multi-state/compact state RN license.

Required Skills and Experience

You must have a minimum of two years of pediatric ICU experience. Clinical competencies include:

• Ventilated patient care and acute airway management
• BiPAP/CPAP and continuous sedation management
• Anti-seizure medications and ICP monitoring
• Central lines, implanted lines, and PICC line management
• IV vasopressors and chest tube management
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Arterial blood gas interpretation
• Pediatric dosage calculations
• Infection control and isolation precautions

ECMO and CRRT experience are preferred but not required.

Support and Compensation

The facility provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams. Your weekly pay is $2,072.
