Emergency Room RN Job in Des Moines, IA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in a 36-bed emergency department at UnityPoint - Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts on an every-third-weekend schedule. Weekly pay is $2,365, with a start date of August 31, 2026.

Your Role

You'll provide direct patient care to adults across all acuity levels in a Level I trauma center. Your shift will include a patient ratio of 4:1 with no on-call responsibilities. You'll manage complex drips including sedation, vasoactive, vasopressor, heparin, insulin, pain control, and antiarrhythmic medications. Telemetry monitoring and interpretation are core to your daily work. You must be able to float across multiple campuses as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license
• Minimum 15 months of emergency medicine experience
• 36 months of documented current emergency department work history
• Recent Level I trauma experience
• Current and recent travel nursing experience
• EPIC EMR proficiency
• BLS, ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC certifications
• Valid driver's license
• Skills checklist specific to Emergency Department discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• NIHSS certificate (can be obtained during onboarding)
• Professional reference from charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months

What to Expect

You'll work nights in a high-acuity environment with predictable scheduling. Dress code is navy blue solid scrubs. This role requires clinical judgment, strong assessment skills, and the ability to manage multiple critically ill patients simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
