Job Details:

• Work in a 16-bed CVOR unit with a 1:1 patient ratio
• Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with an expectation for turnovers of less than 20 minutes
• 16 OR suites with 12-14 running routinely, including reserved space for traumas as a Level 1 trauma center
• Service lines include cardiac/peripheral vascular, neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gynecology, urology, general, pediatrics, transplants, and small volumes of ENT and plastic procedures
• Special equipment includes 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and primarily Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma
• Both scrubbing and circulating experience preferred
• Weekend call schedule runs from end of shift on Friday through 6:30 AM Monday
• On-call requirement of up to 2 overnight shifts per week and 1 weekend per month
• 1 weekend per month required
• Scrubs are provided
• Orientation includes approximately 2-3 weeks in general OR rooms, followed by 2 weeks in vascular, then progression into cardiac cases
• For the first 6 weeks, RNs complete general call for the department before transitioning to cardiac call
• Required to float across all campuses
• Minimum of 24 months of current/recent operating room experience required
• Cardiovascular OR/CVOR experience required
• General circulating/general operating room experience required (80% cardiac cases, 20% general cases)
• Strong proficient experience in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic required
• Basic general surgery circulating experience required
• EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; Trauma Level II experience required
• No first-time travelers; must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months
• Open heart scrubbing experience required
• Skills checklist specific to Operating Room Nurse (scrub/scrubbing) required
• Active Iowa license or compact/multistate license required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA)
