RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 2 years of nursing experience required
• Telemetry monitoring experience required
• BSN preferred; ASN accepted
• No block scheduling
• Every 3rd weekend required
• 1 summer and 1 winter holiday shift required
• Floating required to 1 other unit (3 Thompson)
• No on-call responsibilities
• Self-scheduling
• Patient ratio of 4-5 patients
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: BLS
• Care for adult patients across a 39-bed medical telemetry unit
• Patient population includes Hospital Medicine, Gyn Oncology, and Maternal Fetal Medicine
• Manage patients with complex medical needs including substance use disorders and withdrawal management, behavioral and complex social needs, and gastrointestinal, respiratory, and sepsis management
• Safely manage mid-flow, high-flow (Optiflow), and CPAP therapies with established care plans
• Provide care for stable ventilator-dependent and tracheostomy patients
• Ongoing care coordination including drain, tube, and line management; enteral nutrition; and administration of multiple infusion therapies
• Required skills include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care/management, PICC line management, peripheral line care/management, pacemaker management (temporary/permanent), heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, cardiac drip management (no titration), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy care/management, care of ventilated patients, PCA, phlebotomy, wound care/wound vac, accessing/managing ports, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), feeding tube care and management, pre/post cardiac cath, post MI, pre/post hemodialysis management, substance withdrawal, traumatic brain injury, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, nasal cannula, use of rapid response/code teams, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and transportation
• Virtual nursing capabilities available including VRN support for patient education, staff workflow assistance, and purposeful rounding
• First-time travelers accepted
