ICU RN Job in Kearney, NE

CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 33-bed Intensive Care Unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,359.

Shift and Schedule

• Work three 12-hour shifts per week
• Day shift: 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM; night shift: 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Minimum of two holidays required during the contract
• Self-scheduling integrated into core staff schedule; block scheduling not guaranteed

Clinical Environment

• Average daily census of 16 patients in a 33-bed unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3 for adult patients
• Common diagnoses: trauma, cardiac events, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent placement, pacemaker insertion, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications
• Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitor equipment with tele tech support
• Manage respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilators
• Potential floating to PCU or Med-Surg with ratios of 1:4 or 1:5

Staffing and Support

• Nurse aides available based on census
• Healthcare Support Tech available three days per week (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Charting via EPIC system

Requirements and Expectations

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Valid driver's license required at submission
• Artificial nails prohibited in patient care departments
• If placed on call and called back in, must arrive within 30 minutes
• BSN not required
