PCU Registered Nurse Job in Abilene, Texas

Hendrick Medical Center South is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 33-bed Progressive Care Unit. You will deliver direct and individualized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care delivery.

Position Details

• Shift: 3x12 nights
• Patient ratios: 5:1 during nights
• Duration: 91 days
• Weekly pay: $2,099.52
• Start date: June 29, 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in a 33-bed PCU unit with daily census of 30
• Participate in self-scheduling with 12 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Float to different floors or other campus locations as needed
• Work with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary

Requirements

• Current RN license
• BCLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience and prior travel healthcare experience
• Must reside 150 miles or more from the facility
• Altera charting experience preferred but not required

Onboarding

You will complete 64 hours of orientation, which includes non-billable modules averaging 6–8 hours. You must also complete a facility drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, and complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer.
