About this role

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for their oncology unit in Charlottesville, VA. This is a night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts, with weekly pay of $2,291. The assignment runs 98 weeks, starting September 28, 2026, and extends through January 2, 2027.

Position Details

  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours)
  • Work every other weekend; 2 out of 3 winter holidays required
  • Maximum 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract
  • Float required in alignment with facility float policy

Clinical Environment

  • 28-bed adult acute care hematology and oncology inpatient unit
  • 15-bed intermediate care Stem Cell Transplant Unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
  • Care for adult patients with hematology and oncology diagnoses

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Access and manage ports
  • Administer chemotherapy
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care within your assigned patient load

Requirements

  • Current Virginia nursing license (pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • BLS certification required
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification (must be attached at submittal or pending completion before start date)
  • ACLS preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • BSN preferred
