PCU RN Job in Brevard, NC

You will work as an RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a start date of September 14, 2026. You will work the night shift—6:45 PM to 7:15 AM—three days per week on a rotating schedule.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 30-bed acute care unit using a team-based care model with daily collaboration between physicians, nurses, case management, pharmacists, and rehabilitation staff
• Manage patient ratios of 2–4:1 in step-down/ICU settings and 5–6:1 in med-surg areas, with 2–3 patient care technicians supporting the floor as needed
• Perform clinical procedures including IV starts, central line management, arterial line placement, Foley catheter insertion, EKG monitoring, and wound care
• Operate equipment such as IV pumps, sequential compression devices, Nova Stat glucometers, wound vacs, Baxter feeding pumps, patient lift equipment, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Document all care using the Cerner electronic medical record system
• Float to the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) as staffing needs require
• Work rotating weekends, including three Mondays and Fridays per six-week scheduling period, and cover holidays according to the staffing matrix

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification completed before the end of orientation
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification completed before the end of orientation
• Minimum one year of med-surg experience preferred
• ICU or step-down experience preferred

Work Environment and Compensation

You will function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment caring for patients across all acuity levels from med-surg to ICU. The unit employs over 40 staff members, including one charge nurse or clinical nurse coordinator, 4–5 RNs or LPNs, and 2–3 nursing assistants per shift. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs for all nursing staff.

Weekly pay is $1,839.60. This is a three-day-per-week night shift assignment.
