RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work a rotating 4x12 schedule with both day and night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• 13-week assignment duration
• Care for cardiac surgery patients transitioning from the ICU on a Cardiovascular Stepdown/Telemetry unit
• Manage chest tubes including Emerson/PleurEvac systems
• Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias including telemetry monitoring both on-unit and remote
• Administer and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips including titration
• Perform and manage BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and other non-invasive airway management
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral line care
• Administer blood products, heparin protocols, and IV insulin protocols
• Provide pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post cardiac cath, and post cardiac angiogram care
• Manage renal failure patients including pre/post hemodialysis care
• Perform sheath removal and TR Band management
• Conduct wound care and wound vac management
• Participate in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Maintain a patient ratio of 4:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Work in a 21-bed unit with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Treat adult patient population only
• 2 years of RN experience required
• Strong cardiac telemetry and stepdown experience required with experience managing chest tubes and dysrhythmia
• Experience working with cardiovascular stepdown patients required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Active Virginia or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
