About this role
Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, WI is hiring a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 91-day travel assignment. You will work 36 hours per week on a 3x12 night shift schedule, 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage required.
Your Responsibilities:
- Perform routine therapies to support treatment, diagnosis, and evaluation of cardiopulmonary status
- Execute emergency rounds, oxygen saturation checks, and titrate oxygen per established protocol
- Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean invasive and non-invasive ventilation support
- Make ventilator parameter recommendations based on clinical assessment, laboratory values, and patient condition
- Conduct patient assessments to determine treatment needs, frequencies, and duration of therapy regimens
- Assess patients before and after medication, procedure, or device administration and recommend appropriate therapy
- Monitor, assess, educate, and document patient and family instruction on therapies, medications, and equipment
- Demonstrate competence in setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators, noninvasive ventilation devices, therapeutic bronchoscopies, and pulmonary function screens
- Clean, assemble, and maintain equipment using high-level disinfection and stock departmental supplies
- Respond to emergent situations and assist with resuscitation including chest compressions, airway management, and ventilator support per AHA guidelines
- Transport adult patients on mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation devices, and critically ill patients to intrahospital procedures and testing
- Provide developmentally appropriate care for pediatric and adult patient populations
- Participate in community education events related to respiratory care procedures, disease processes, and treatments
Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program with education verification, Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner license, RRT certification with the National Board for Respiratory Care, AHA Provider Level BLS certification, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
Compensation: $2,102.40 per week. Assignment begins August 18, 2026.
