PICU Registered Nurse Job in Saint Louis, MO

Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 3x12 or 4x12 rotating shift schedule with day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week for 3x12 schedule or 48 hours per week for 4x12 schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• 6 weekend shifts required per schedule period
• No on-call required
• 18 to 24 months of PICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Scrub color: Any or facility-branded T-shirts and jackets
• Must be comfortable treating patient age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• Experience with Level I Trauma preferred; post-op, respiratory failure, liver transplants, sepsis, and post-BMT experience preferred
• No burn patients (stabilize only) and no heart patients
• Bedside surgeries and procedures performed on unit
• Will float to NICU, CVICU, Stepdown, PICU overflow floor with low acuity med-surg patients, and may serve as RN Assist for 1:1 observation for safety and behavioral health purposes
• Required skills include: assist/manage intubation, care of ventilated patients, care and maintenance of acute airway, central line blood draw, central line and implanted line care, CRRT, ECMO, ICP monitoring, management of chest tubes, management of gastric tubes, NG tube insertion and management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, suctioning (ETT and NT), telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management
• Special equipment includes BiPAP, HFNC, ventilators, and oscillators
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred for travel nurses
